Here are some items I worked on this weekend for a friend of mine. The pink shirt is my first "Big Sis" shirt. It was fun to design.

First Day of School Excitment & My First Messenger Bag with Lunch Bag

The girls were excited to start school today. Morgan even slept in her new high-top shoes! They didn't really match what she was wearing, but I couldn't tell her and break her heart. Morgan asked me to make her a messenger style bag and matching lunch box, which is shown below. I think the fabrics are really fun! She loved both and loaded up the pencil holder slots I added immediately. MaKenna decided late last night that she would "let" me make her a lunch box, but she wanted to buy her bag at the store. Of course Mary Alex thought she was way too old for me to make her anything. She also thought she was old enough to determine the outfit she wore today was totally awesome. (Um, she may regret that decision in the future when I pull this picture out! hehe) I know the group shot is not great, but trying to get a good shot of all of them together was like herding cats! LOL

Recent Bib, Burp Rags, & Onsies Sets with a Couple Surprise Pictures

Here are a couple sets I just made as part of a custom order. I just bought the pink Amy Butler fabric. It is my new favorite girly fabric! The race car set was for a new baby with a race car nursery theme.

As I was looking through my SD card to download the above pictures, I noticed my oldest randomly decided she needed to take some self pictures. I thought these were pretty funny. She was working on her serious and sad faces.

Birthday Sewing and Crafting for a Family of Leos!

My paternal grandpa and grandma, dad, step-mom, and myself are all Leos, meaning our birthdays all fall in a 4 week period. Heck, my dad's and grandpa's actually first names are even Leo, although neither has ever gone by this name a day in their lives. This year I wanted to make every Leo in the family something special, so here is what I came up with. Unfortunately my grandpa passed away when I was 9, which is why he does not have a gift pictured below. (BTW Mom and Dad, thank you for not naming me Leoette, Leona, Leoness, or anything similar!)

DRY ERASE BOARD
I made my step-mom a dry-erase board by spray painting a really cool large frame black and adding fabric behind the glass. I was even lucky enough to find a frame the had grooves as details running around it, which perfectly hold the markers securely on top.

Please excuse the awful picture taking!

SCRIPTURE BAG
The highlight of my grandma's week is generally the Sunday morning church service, so I chose to make her a "scripture bag". It is basically a pleated tote made slightly bigger than her Bible. It has Velcro closer pockets for her pens and cell phone.

I promise it is not crooked or oddly shaped as it appears in the picture. I guess my picture taking skills were less than stellar when I took this picture too.

OFFICE TO GO
My dad offices out of his car most days, so I wanted to come up with something to help keep him organized and provide easy access to commonly used office supplies. I bought a large handled clipboard at Staples and then made 2 pouches to go inside. The opaque one holds scissors and pens. The partially transparent one is divided into 4 compartments that hold everything pictured. It has one zipper that runs across all four compartments, but is sewn securely so that the items stay in their place. This one also rolls up, which would work great if he chooses to put it in his center console. I chose the Robert Kaufman motorcycle fabric and black denim in honor of his beloved Harley. He seemed to like it.

Personalized Pictures Planner/Calendar/Agenda Tutorial

Making your own planner is easy. They also make great gifts! My friends and I got together to make our covers together, which was really fun!

You will need:
4-5 coordinating pieces of scrapbook paper
Index Tabs
Pen or Marker
Glue Stick

Step 1- Cut 2 pieces of scrapbook paper to 8 1/2 X 11. (One for the front cover and one for the back.) Decorate the front and back covers as you like. Here are pictures of mine completed as a sample, but you could design them anyway you would like.  I cut the letters on my Cricut, but you could cut them by hand or use stickers. Do not laminate them yet, I just didn't take a picture of them before I bound the planner.

Step 2- Using my template, found  HERE, create the months you would like to add to your calendar. Change the font if you would like, the Google Spreadsheet template I created would only show a basic font.

Step 3- Add your own pictures to each month. You may also add quotes at the top and bottom of the pages as shown in my sample picture below. You can also add backgrounds. I found my backgrounds on line for free. I have August 2010-August 2011 completed and can email them to you if you ask. I just could not get them to upload on this site correctly.

4. Print a title page for the front of the planner with your name and personal information. You may also want to print address section pages, week-by-week pages, and/or note pages. I can also email you these. When I try to upload them I lose all their formatting. Here are some samples:

5. Arrange the pages in the order you would like them. I did each month, followed by enough weekly pages for each month. I then put the address and notes pages in their own sections towards the back. Do forget the first page of each month will need to be turned backwards before binding so that when you open the planner you can see the whole month. It will look like this:

6. Have the covers laminated with extra thick lamination, then have it bound. I have found Fed-Ex/Kinkos does the best job at this. It is not very expensive.

7. Use the left over pieces of your scrapbook paper to make your tabs for each month/section. The index tabs easily stick on each month and can be bought at office supplies stores or Wal-Mart. Place each tab an inch lower than the previous one to space them out.

YOU ARE ALL FINISHED! WHOO HOO!! I would love to see pictures of yours if you choose to make one.

Quilts for a Set of Twin Girls

As I mentioned earlier, my sister ordered the bag shown here-Pink Diaper Bag- for a close friend's baby shower. Well, that friend is actually having twins and I wanted to do something special for her. My sister said her friend loves western themed things, so I thought this fun Robert Kaufman Cowgirl print would make great quilts. Since it has a blue background, I wanted to add some girly fabrics as well. I found some pretty Michael Miller and Robert Kaufman prints for the stripes and back. If you look closely, you can see I made the center stripes and binding from coordinating fabrics. That way they are slightly different, but almost the same. My sisters are identical twins, so I have learned that the whole "different, but the same" philosophy usually goes over well. Lol

A Couple More Cutie-Patootie Baby Bags

I spent the last couple days working on orders and gift for friends. The blue bag is a large-sized diaper bag for baby Max. (He is the friend's baby I made the Moda monkey quilt for.) The medium-sized diaper bag was ordered by my sister for one of her best friend's shower. Both have zipper compartments and elastic lined bottle holding pockets. The back of the blue one is also a large pocket. They were fun to design and of course my husband gave his input on the boy bag.  I hope the new mommies like them!
